I’m still getting feedback from the Desiree Rogers story and most people — except those who have been commenting on the Post website — seem to think it was tough but fair. I have been invited to the press holiday party at the White House next week, which I think is evidence that the folks over there are professionals who don’t take things personally. I plan to go, of course, and am hopeful that the gingerbread cookies will be plentiful!
Robin Givhan “Off the Runway” blog (Dec. 9, 2009)

Robin Givhan‘s “Off the Runway” blog is on her own URL and current!

Givhan has pushed fashion journalism to a new exciting level. YES, she deserved the Pulitzer. She put Washington, DC on the fashion map. That takes real talent! Robin’s columns are not about the “do’s” and “don’t” but “why’s” and “what for’s” or even “why bother.” Because I don’t necessarily follow fashion as direction for what to wear, I depend on Robin for “Why the worry.” Fashion is as much art as cultural and a social science. It’s all about context AND aesthetic. A little psychology too. Hey Robin, can you slip me out a gingerbread cookie from the WH press party? Make sure you’re on the list.
